Web mirror script

A web mirror script will take a website and place a mirror of your website somewhere else, so that in cases where traffic is heavy or the site is down – another version of your website will be up and running.  The script is built to copy all the files from your primary site location to a secondary location on a hourly, nightly, weekly, monthly or yearly schedule – depending on how often your website’s design or content is updated.  The language that the script is built in doesn’t really matter, it’s just a matter of what makes more sense for your setup.

As servers become faster and more reliable – the need for web mirror script development is less and less frequent.  Ideally there would be now need for this practice and the website can be located on one server in one building…, but unfortunately a lot of things can and probably will go wrong with technology and having a backup (one of the oldest known secrets to not losing all your information) is a brilliant idea – and it should also apply to your live website.  If the building that holds your primary server burns down – you don’t want to lose sales while the servers are salvaged, rebuilt…
